College rugby is a growing and popular sport within the American university system and plays an increasingly significant role on many campuses. Rugby teams at colleges and universities that offer rugby participate in competitions organized by National Collegiate Rugby in collaboration with various sports associations. Within these competitions, teams play against other universities across the country.
During the rugby season, you play regular matches against other colleges where you travel with your team to different universities to represent your school. Matches are combined with intensive training sessions and tactical meetings in which coaches and players work together on strategy and team development. Universities ensure that the sports program aligns with the academic program so that lectures, exams, and assignments can be well combined with training and matches. This allows you as a student-athlete to continue performing in the classroom while actively participating in a competitive rugby team.
