The Canadian basketball system
University basketball in Canada is organized by U Sports and the Canadian Collegiate Athletic Association (CCAA), which coordinate both recreational leagues and tournaments at the highest performance level. As a student-athlete, you compete against other universities and colleges, often within your province, but for top teams, also at a national level. The basketball season consists of weekly games, team practices, and tactical meetings where you work together to achieve the best results and score points for your university’s ranking. The program is designed so that your studies are well-combined with your sport, ensuring that lectures, assignments, and exams have a natural transition and collaboration with intensive training sessions and games, allowing sport and study to align perfectly.
