The Canadian track and field system
University track and field in Canada is organized through sports organizations such as U Sports and the Canadian Collegiate Athletic Association (CCAA), which coordinate both recreational competitions and meets at the highest level. As a student-athlete, you participate in regional and national competitions where you compete individually in your specific events—such as sprints, middle or long distances, jumping and throwing events—while simultaneously scoring points as a team for your university’s ranking. The season is filled with meets, training sessions, and team strategies where you constantly work together with your team to achieve the best possible results. The program is designed to ensure your studies always remain a priority, meaning lectures, assignments, and exams are combined with intensive training and competitions so that you can optimally combine sport and study.
