At American universities, college hockey is at the heart of sporting life. Matches and competitions are organized through major sports organizations such as the NCAA (National Collegiate Athletic Association). These organizations ensure a well-structured field hockey program, ranging from competitive recreational levels to the absolute top tier in America.
During the college hockey season, you play against other universities from both within and outside your conference. This means you compete against regional opponents but, depending on your level, also against the best teams from across the country. The season is packed with weekly matches, often two to three per week, team strategy meetings, and collective training sessions on the field, in the gym, and recovery sessions with the physiotherapist. Everything is organized so that the academic program is not compromised. Lectures, exams, and assignments are combined with training and matches. It is intensive, but it is precisely this challenge that makes you stronger and gives every match a huge thrill and a unique elite athlete experience.
