Hockey System in Canada
At various Canadian high schools, hockey is part of the school sports program, especially in provinces where the sport is more popular, such as British Columbia and Ontario. School teams typically participate in competitions organized by provincial school sports organizations. These competitions are usually structured regionally, where schools from the same region or province compete against one another. During the hockey season, school teams train several times a week, often directly after classes on the school’s sports fields. Matches usually take place in the afternoon or early evening, allowing students to effectively combine their practices and games with their academic schedule. In many cases, the season concludes with regional or provincial championships where the strongest school teams play against each other.
